Data & Security
Ranch Hand™ brings animal, device and ranch information into one operational view. This page explains the practical security principles behind that service.
What the system handles
Depending on the selected system, Ranch Hand™ may process animal identifiers, temperature and activity information, device and gateway status, estimated location information, ranch boundaries, account information and customer-entered notes.
Purpose of the data
Operational data is used to provide monitoring, maps, alerts, support, diagnostics and service improvement. Customer information is not intended to be made public through the normal service.
Account access
Customers should protect login credentials, use unique passwords or access codes where available, limit account access to authorized personnel and notify Wandering Shepherd promptly if unauthorized access is suspected.
Payments are separated from monitoring data
Payment credentials are handled by the payment provider used at checkout. Customers should not send full card or bank-account details to Wandering Shepherd by email.
Connectivity and security
Ranch deployments can include gateways, internet backhaul and cloud services. We use technical and administrative safeguards appropriate to the service, while recognizing that no connected system can guarantee absolute security or uninterrupted availability.
Data questions
Questions about account data, access or security can be sent to sales@wanderingshepherd.com. Order-specific service agreements may include additional data provisions.
